Job Title: MIDDLE SCHOOL VISUAL ARTS 

 

Position Overview

 

This faculty member will join a growth-oriented, collaborative learning community committed to the School’s mission including core values of inclusivity and service. These include the Center for Teaching, a professional development institute located on the Westminster campus.

Reports to:  Head of Middle School

Qualifications

 

Candidates should have a strong academic background in Visual Arts. Two or more years of Middle School teaching experience, a Master’s degree, and a background in interdisciplinary curriculum or integrated studies are preferred but not required.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strong background in all areas of art, including Drawing, Painting, and Ceramics
  • Ability to teach teach sections of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade general arts classes
  • Ability to create multi-disciplinary course work, including STEAM-related initiatives

Additionally, successful candidates should demonstrate:

  • a love of working with Middle School students
  • an affinity for collaborative curriculum development
  • an engaging teaching style
  • the ability to build partnerships with parents and colleagues
  • the ability to create and promote an inclusive learning environment
  • the ability to contribute to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs
  • enthusiasm, flexibility, and a cooperative spirit

Physical Demands

 

Ability to engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; sitting and standing for long periods of time; ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
